Walk Across the Mahicantuck (Hudson River)

Sunday, October 17, 2021

This Faiths 4 Climate Justice event is being organized by the “inter-faith break-out group” at the July 22nd meeting of the Environmental Crisis Planning Forum co-hosted by Basilica Hudson, the Columbia Land Conservancy, and the Buddhist Action Coalition.

Earlier in the day of Sunday, October 17, faith communities will host events at their places of worship or assembly to unfurl banners calling for climate action, ring bells, sound gongs and chimes, call the Azan, and more.

Then, in the afternoon of Sunday, October 17, those of us within the Upper Hudson Valley and surrounding hills will assemble along the Mahicantuck (Hudson River) to raise our collective voice as we walk across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

From Maia Boswell-Penc, Unity of Albany’s EarthCare coordinator:

“I’m going on a walk across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge for Climate Justice. Would you like to come along?
Oh, and bring a small drum or a tambourine or a small bell to ring… and a sign or small banner from your faith group or environmental organization.
Please RSVP (atgreenfaith.controlshift.app) so that we can estimate the possible size of the gathering.
Send this invite on to others… or write your own invite with a link to the RSVP.
Here are some of the details:
