Facilitated by Rev. Joanne Burns

Join us for a five-week overview of the teachings of Unity. You will be briefly introduced to the history of Unity including its founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, the Five Basic Principles and other foundational teachings, affirmative prayer & meditation, positive practical tools for creating a spiritually enhanced life. You’ll be introduced to many well-known Unity authors and resources to explore beyond the end of our five weeks together. You will also learn more about our community’s mission, vision & values, how you can benefit from being a part of our community and contribute to the wonderful ministry known as Unity Church in Albany.

Membership

Completion of the Unity Basics class is one of the requirements for becoming an official member of Unity Church. If you love what we teach, we would love to have you become a member, though it is in no way required, nor would you be required to withdraw your membership from other churches in order to join Unity.  Our purpose is to advance spiritual consciousness, not to convert.

To become a member, we ask that you attend worship services regularly for at least six months, read the booklet Unity: A Quest for Truth and participate in a five or six-week foundational class like this one, which are generally held once or twice a year.

Rev. Joanne Burns has been serving Unity ministries for over 25 years. She is finishing her training to serve as a UWM Ministry Wellness Consultant.

Joanne helped facilitate our HOPCOF series of Zoom meetings in the summer of 2020 and was a delightful and very helpful presence during those transition activities. she then facilitated our Unity Basics class in spring 2021 and was greatly appreciated by those who took part. It’s a pleasure to be able to welcome Rev. Joanne back to our community once again.
