What Is a Burning Bowl Ceremony?

The burning bowl ceremony is a fire ceremony that helps you release old, unwanted conditions or events in your life. Through the powerful and symbolic release of the burning bowl ritual, you can let go of anything holding you back.

There are two phases to our ceremony.

1. You are invited to release anything that no longer serves you and move forward in peace and freedom in the year ahead.

This ceremony is an opportunity to welcome a new year full of new energy and potential, holding intentions for the manifestation of our highest good.

If you plan to attend virtually, use the online form to name what you want to release. Your slip will be held in sacred confidence until the day of the ceremony, when it will be burned. Together in faith, we let go of negative thoughts, hurts, or fears … and experience renewal.

By burning away that which you wish to leave in the old year, may you embrace the promise and hope of 2023. Together we create a future filled with possibility.

2. Write your “Letter to God.”

Though we will provide time within the service for your letter-writing, if you are joining us from home, you can feel free to continue your writing any time after the service if desired.

This is time to allow Spirit to help you envision and ultimately manifest your intentions for the new year. How will you create this New Year? What are your goals, your dreams, your plans? How will the power of Faith carry you forward and reveal your path into 2023?

For our online attendees:
When you have completed your letter, we invite you to put it in a self-addressed, stamped envelope, fold that envelope into thirds and insert it in another envelope addressed to Unity Church, 21 King Ave., Albany, NY 12206. Alternatively, you may simply place the letter in a self-addressed envelope and drop it by the office at your convenience. Letters will be returned to you in October or November, allowing you to reflect upon your intentions for the year and to continue to affirm the vision as 2023 draws to a close.
