A Four-Part Communal Journey
Tuesdays October 15, October 22, November 12, November 19
6:30-8:00 pm in the Unity Library
Grief and loss touch us all. When we gather in community…the many tributaries of sorrow flow into the room. They swirl around us, touching everyone in the circle…As we come to the end of the sharing, there is a dawning recognition that this is our shared sorrow, the communal cup from which we all drink. It is ours to hold and gradually empty. We do this together as we enter healing ground.”
~ Francis Weller, in The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief
Facilitated by Rev Brigid Beckman and Deb Sigrist, BSN, RN, CHPN
Deb is a retired hospice nurse with over 40 years of inpatient experience as well experience leading bereavement support groups and community presentations on dying and spirituality. She is the author of two guides for individuals and families navigating the final days of life.
Rev Brigid has worked with numerous families and individuals as they navigate the death of their loved ones, both during the dying process and in gathering for communal rituals of memorial services and funerals.,
Most important, both women have also faced their own landscapes of grief. Each week is designed to be a stand alone session, but ultimately, the four weeks weave together. With honesty, compassion, and an underlying joy in life’s mystery, Deb and Brigid invite you to explore your own landscape of grief, whether your sorrows arise from the death of someone you love, the loss of a dream, end of a relationship, or death of a beloved pet.
