a positive path for spiritual living

Real Life on the Spiritual Path

a workshop with Philip Goldberg

Sunday, November 12, 2023, 12:00 – 2:00 pm

The spiritual path can be a joy ride of deepening peace, greater wisdom, and divine union. It can also get bumpy, sluggish, and foggy. It’s sometimes sublime, sometimes confusing, sometimes hysterical. That’s why it’s been called a razor’s edge and a narrow ridge—and why traversing the path requires balance, discernment, and the spiritual equivalent of sturdy shoes. In this workshop, Phil will draw on lessons learned from fifty years of experience and hundreds of interviews to explore the key issues that arise on the path. Together in conversation, we’ll sort through the paradoxes, contradictions, and ambiguities most spiritual aspirants face at some point along the way as we integrate inner life with outer concerns, the needs of the soul with the need for material well-being.

We’ll delve into common spiritual challenges around career, money, relationships, desire, teachers and communities, ethics, faith, interpretations of sacred teachings, and more. It’s BYO: Bring Your Own concerns and quandaries.

Yogi Berra once said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” The road to spiritual fulfillment has many forks, and each of us must decide which one to take at any given moment. We can get help and guidance, for sure, but ultimately the road we take is the road we make—and that takes self-awareness, honest reflection, and a well-tuned intuition. That’s the focus of this practical workshop. We’ll come away with a fresh perspective and usable tools, better prepared to reset our spiritual GPS for a safe, speedy journey into the divine.
