with songleader Roberta Kirn
If you can walk, you can dance.
If you can talk, you can sing!
This expression from Zimbabwe is one of Roberta’s favorites because it is her belief that singing is not only universal and fun, it can be deeply healing… and EVERYONE can do it!
Roberta’s mission is to inspire as many people as she can to sing in community wherever and whenever possible, and for them to experience the transformative benefits of singing in a group. Roberta began her study of dance and music at Dartmouth and Sarah Lawrence Colleges, continued studying and performing while living in New York City, and then on Martha’s Vineyard where she has taught and performed since 1990. Her most important teachers have been Ysaye Barnwell, Nick Page, Melanie DeMore and Bobby McFerrin.
My mission is to inspire as many people as I can to sing in community, wherever and whenever possible! – Roberta
Through her organization BEWELLSING Roberta brings to groups and organizations of all kinds and sizes an experience of the benefits of singing together. Singing in community is dynamic, energizing and inclusive – everyone can do it, no matter how talented or tone deaf they might be. Singing opens hearts, builds bridges across differences and lifts spirits – and it’s fun!
