Join us for a facilitated discussion the film Just Mercy and the book Just Mercy: a Story of Justice and Redemption.

A powerful true story about the Equal Justice Initiative, the people it represents, and the importance of confronting injustice, Just Mercy tells the true story of Walter McMillian, who, with the help of young defense attorney Bryan Stevenson, appeals his murder conviction. The film is based on the memoir of the same name, written by Stevenson.

Just Mercy is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, and starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, and Brie Larson.

Denise Kirkley-Cain (aka: “DK”) is a professional Minister in the United Church of Christ, as well as an entrepreneur with over 40 years experience in the field of Human Services. She has worked tirelessly with children and families encapsulating her initial life goal of “Wanting to work with the entire Human gamut from the cradle to the grave.”

Her long list of accomplishments include:
Founder and CEO of Kultural Konnections Consulting LLC. (A Home Health Care company); Developing and establishing the Neighborhood Community Centre (NCC) of Catholic Charities (Albany, NY); Executive Director of the Methodist Action Program (MAP), worked with 14 United Methodist Churches-(UMC) designated to be the social arm of the Church in the Wilmington Delaware (Peninsula Delaware Conference).
