Recently, Ramananda John Welshons joined us for a day of “Honoring the Seasons of Our Lives.” During his talk and workshop, John invited us to embrace the inevitability of change as a blessing in which we can unveil Love in every circumstance during the ongoing cycles of life. Over the course of many months a team composed of Rev Brigid, Mary Myers, Deb Sigrist and Pat Anene have worked to create Living Fully with the End in Mind, a four part series of workshops designed to support and inform the conversations and decisions that bring peace of mind to each season of life.
We kick off our series with a two part event on October 29, 2023:
-
Day of the Dead celebration at our 10 am Sunday Service
-
Part 1– The Conversation: Clarifying Your Values and Beliefs – a one hour in person workshop, following the Oct. 29 service, from 11:45-12:45 (If you are unable to join us, please contact Rev Brigid for the materials.)
In our Unity path, we’re taught that our bodily death is an element of life that continues beyond our physical form. Yet our human experiences of loss and grief can make it difficult for us to befriend mortality–our own and for our loved ones. Yet that befriending helps us thoughtfully and honestly engage in conversations around our end of life wishes– and that conversation begins with ourselves.
Many people have strong opinions about what would be important to them at the very end of their lives. Some folks are fearful of too much or not enough medical intervention. While we can’t foresee every situation that may unfold in a continuum of care, it is valuable to take time to explore your own values and beliefs.
Then we follow up with:
-
Three sessions offered in hybrid format– in person at Unity, and on Zoom from 7-8:15 pm, following the 6:30 Meditation and using the meditation link.
-
Wednesday, November 8 Advance Care Planning
-
Wednesday, November 15 Resources: knowing what to ask and where to turn
-
Wednesday, November 29 Coming Together at the End
