Throughout the ages and across cultures, prayer through song and simple body movement has been a powerful vehicle for connecting with the Divine. In addition to offering the increasingly popular kirtan (high-energy call-and response chanting from the Hindu/yoga tradition), ONE LOVE weaves together ancient and contemporary chants from many countries and spiritual traditions, combining beautiful vocal harmonies with infectious energy. Be prepared to be moved and transformed by this uplifting and participatory musical celebration of global prayer!
The Ithaca, NY-based band features singer-songwriter and interfaith minister Jyoti (Jody Kessler) on guitar and vocals; Keyboardist extroadinaire Paul Kimball on keyboard on harmonium; drum and song goddess Sharon Beltaine on vocals and percussion; and multi-instrumental wizard Joe Smellow on percussion and an array of flutes, harmonica, pan pipes, didgeridoo, and more.
One Love was chosen in 2014 as the most outstanding emerging band by BhaktiFest, the most popular yoga and chant festival in the US.
Music from their highly-acclaimed CD, as well as audio and video clips from live events, can be found at www.onelovechant.com and on Facebook at One Love Chant.
This event is free. A love offering will be taken up.
